Director Anil Sharma Confirms Apne 2 Stars Sunny and Bobby Deol
The long-awaited sequel to Apne is finally moving forward. Director Anil Sharma has confirmed that Apne 2, featuring Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, is officially in the works. The filmmaker revealed that while the script is ready, the project may not be his immediate next film as he is currently balancing multiple projects.
In a recent conversation with News18, Anil Sharma said, “Apne 2 is definitely happening. The scripting is already done. I have too many scripts with me right now. Main laga hua hoon ki sab kar sakoon (I’m trying to figure out how to make them all).”

The announcement brings fresh excitement for fans who have been waiting for years to see the Deols reunite on the big screen. Anil Sharma explained that it was never difficult to convince Sunny, Bobby, and Dharmendra to come together for the film. “All three of them wanted to do a film together, and they wanted me to make it. The day the story of Apne came to me, they were overjoyed. When I narrated the story to Dharam ji, he cried. When Bobby heard the script, he hugged me,” the director recalled.
Sunny Deol too was instantly on board once he learned his father and brother were part of the project. Sharma, who shares a deep personal bond with the family, said, “My relationship with the Deols is great, even off-screen. We’ve got that bond wherein we can confide in each other. Humaare beech bahut pyaar aur mohabbat hai.”
The association between Anil Sharma and the Deols has been decades-long, starting with the 1987 hit Hukumat, which starred Dharmendra. Since then, the director has collaborated with the family on several memorable films, cementing their professional and personal bond. With Apne 2 now confirmed, anticipation is high to see how Sharma recreates the emotional magic of the first film while showcasing the Deols’ powerful screen presence once again.
