Exclusive: “Shah Rukh Khan Inspired Me to Become an Actor” – Zain Khan Durrani
Zain Khan Durrani is currently basking in the love coming his way for Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan, where he stars alongside Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor. The actor, who made his debut in 2018 with Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz, recently joined Filmfare for a chat about the film, his journey and aspirations. He also opened up about how Shah Rukh Khan has been his number one inspiration and the one who ignited his passion for cinema.
Durrani shared, “There are plenty of actors I look up to, but if I had to zero it down, my number one inspiration has been Mr. Shah Rukh Khan. That goes without saying. That’s the guy who inspired me to be an actor and put me in awe. I realised I was watching nobody else. That is the magic of cinema. He’s, he’s the one who ignited and engendered that in me.”
On being pointed out that his character Abhinav in Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan plays a one-sided lover just like Shah Rukh Khan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and how the heroines in both the films are named Saba (Aishwarya in ADHM), he excitedly added, “I didn’t pick up on that, but that’s so right. It didn’t occur to me while I was doing it. Wow, I am in a space where I am doing something which is remotely close to what he’s been doing. He would be the one person I fanboy without zero embarrassment. I’m unabashed when it comes to that. That was lovely.”
For the uninitiated, Durrani plays Abhinav in the Santosh Singh directorial, who is in love with Shanaya’s character Saba. But the latter ends up with Vikrant Massey’s character Jahan. Meanwhile, Zain Khan Durrani will next be seen in Danish Renzu’s film Songs of Paradise.
