Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor Urge Media Members to Let People Mourn in Peace
After the heartbreaking news of Shefali Jariwala’s sudden passing, actor Varun Dhawan took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message, urging the media to show more compassion during moments of grief. Though he didn’t mention names, his words came shortly after Shefali’s death and struck a deep chord. “Again, one more passing of a soul being insensitively covered by the media,” he wrote. Adding, “I just don’t understand why do u have to cover someone’s grief. Everyone looks so uncomfortable with this.” His post didn’t just criticise the coverage, it was a reminder that pain and loss deserve space, not spotlights.
Standing by his side in this sentiment was his Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star Janhvi Kapoor. She reshared Varun’s post on her Instagram Stories and simply wrote, “Finally someone said it.” A powerful message that echoed what many have felt for a long time that moments of mourning shouldn’t be turned into media spectacles. It was clear Janhvi resonated with Varun’s words and her support gave even more weight to the much-needed call for sensitivity
Shefali, best known for her unforgettable Kaanta Laga music video and her time on Bigg Boss 13, was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital on June 27 by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. She allegedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was declared dead on arrival. The cause of her death is yet to be confirmed with the police waiting on full autopsy results. It was a shocking and painful turn of events that left her family, friends and fans stunned.
Her final rites were held on Saturday, attended by many from the industry who came to pay their last respects to the actress. Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shehnaaz Gill, Mahira Sharma, Paras Chhabra, Arti Singh, Rashami Desai and Hindustani Bhau were among the people clicked there. In a deeply emotional moment, Parag immersed her ashes in the sea. While tributes continue to pour in, the conversation has now shifted to something deeper how we, as a society, can show more grace and empathy during life’s most vulnerable moments.
