Mouni Roy starts filming Madhur Bhandarkar’s next The Wives

Mouni Roy has started filming for her upcoming project, The Wives. Under the direction of Madhur Bhandarkar, the film promises to delve into the narratives surrounding the lives of Bollywood’s star wives. Earlier today, Mouni Roy shared her enthusiasm for this collaboration with the four-time National Film Award-winning director on social media.

 

Through Instagram, Mouni posted a behind-the-scenes photograph from the Muhurat of The Wives. In the image, she is seen alongside the director, holding the film’s clapboard. She added a caption saying, “Day 1 on this new film I’m truly excited about, grateful to be creating with the maestro himself Madhur Bhandarkar. Thrilled for the journey ahead.” 

When it comes to their attire, Mouni Roy is wearing a black sequined gown, while Madhur is seen in a yellow jacket paired with black jeans and white sneakers.

 

Almost immediately after the announcement was posted, the comment section was filled with responses from fans and celebrities. Mouni’s close friend and fellow actress, Disha Patani, extended her congratulations on this new project. She mentioned, “Congratulations my mon kill it.” Actress Sriti Jha commented, “Congratulations.” A user commented, “Congratulations Mon! So excited to see you.” 

The Wives

Along with Mouni, the film consists of a talented ensemble cast, including Sonali Kulkarni, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruwala.

 

Speaking about the film, Madhur Bhandarkar stated, “With The Wives, I want to peel back yet another glamorous layer of society and show what truly lurks beneath. This film will take a strong, unapologetic look at the secrets, challenges, and strengths of women who are frequently seen but rarely heard.” 

 

This film also represents Madhur Bhandarkar’s second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain of PJ Motion Pictures, following the positive reception of their previous film, India Lockdown, which explored the emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The official release date for The Wives is yet to be disclosed by the production team.

 

Along with this project, Mouni Roy will also be appearing in the romantic comedy, Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde. Directed by David Dhawan, its release is expected in April next year.
