Pavitra Rishta Actress Priya Marathe Passes Away at 38 Due to Cancer

Television and film actor Priya Marathe, best known for her role in Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on August 31, 2025. She was 38. The actor had been battling cancer for the past year.

Born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, Marathe completed her education in the city before stepping into the world of acting. She made her television debut with the Marathi serial Ya Sukhanoya and later appeared in Char Divas Sasuche. Over time, she carved a name for herself in both Hindi and Marathi television.

Marathe featured in several Hindi serials, including Balaji Telefilms’ Kasamh Se, where she played Vidya Bali, and Sony TV’s Bade Acche Lagte Hain, in which she portrayed Jyoti Malhotra in 2012. She was also part of the first season of Comedy Circus and became widely known for her character Varsha Satish in Pavitra Rishta. Her television credits also include Tu Tithe Me, Bhaage Re Mann, Jayastute, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.

Apart from television, Marathe also worked in films. She appeared in the 2008 Hindi movie Humne Jeena Seekh Liya and acted in the Marathi film Ti Ani Itar, directed by Govind Nihalani, which featured an ensemble cast including Subodh Bhave, Sonali Kulkarni, Amruta Subhash, and Bhushan Pradhan.

In her personal life, Priya Marathe married actor Shantanu Moghe in 2012. Known for her warm personality and versatility as a performer, she was admired by colleagues and fans alike.
