AR Murugadoss Says It Was Difficult to Work With Salman Khan in Sikandar

AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, was much-awaited by the actor’s fans, but it failed to impress the audience and leave a mark at the box office. Now, the filmmaker has opened up about the film’s failure and his experience of working with the actor.
During a conversation with Valaipechu Voice, he shared that it was not easy to shoot with a star, and he turned up on the set only by 8 PM. The filmmaker was quoted as saying, “It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up on set only by 8 PM. We are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there.”

He also explained that it would affect the other actors on the sets. “If there were four kids in a scene, we would have to shoot with them at 2 AM, even if it’s the shot of them returning from school! They would become tired by that time and usually doze off,” said the filmmaker.

Murugadoss also addressed the failure of Sikandar and said that the story was emotional, but he could not execute it well. “It’s about a king who doesn’t truly understand his wife. We are all like that—whether it’s with our mother, friend, or wife, we often don’t value relationships. The story was emotional, but I couldn’t execute it well.” Sikandar starred Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj,  Sharman Joshi, Anjini Dhawan, Jatin Sarna, Sanjay Kapoor and Prateik Smita Patil among others. The movie hit the theatres during Eid on March 30, 2025.
Salman is now preparing for the film Battle of Galwan and is also reportedly working on the sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The actor will also make a cameo with Sanjay Dutt in the Saudi Arabian movie The Seven Dogs.
