Aadar Jain Says His Journey Wasn’t Nepotism-driven, Calls His Career a Personal Struggle

Recently, Aadar Jain, the grandson of the late legend Raj Kapoor, shared his thoughts on the current discussion surrounding nepotism in Bollywood. As the cousin of Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, the actor clarified that he does not view himself as a product of nepotism. He explained that his career path has not been without difficulties and has presented its own set of obstacles. Aadar further mentioned that he has diligently worked to deserve each opportunity he has received, even though he comes from a family involved in the film industry.

Aadar, who is the youngest son of Rima Jain, also mentioned that the significant intervals between his projects were not intentional. He explained that finding work has been challenging and that belonging to a film family does not really ensure easy opportunities within the industry.

He told ETimes, “People talk about nepotism, but I’ve not gotten the benefits of it. Yes, I am Raj Kapoor’s grandson, I am Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin, but that doesn’t allow me to get 50 films a year or like doing five films and signing brand deals and endorsements nonstop. Unfortunately, in that sense I’ve not been a product of nepotism. It’s not been easy. It has been a struggle. I have auditioned for a lot of places. I’ve been rejected many times. It’s hard to deal with those rejections. I love what I do. So, when you’re not getting to do what you love as often, of course, it hurts. The idea is to keep picking yourself up and pushing yourself.”

Aadar Jain also mentioned that he looks at all the setbacks in his career as valuable learning experiences and has no regrets. He also recalled that it required a considerable amount of time for him to secure his third project, observing that numerous contemporary actors now have several films scheduled even prior to their debut films.
