Hrithik Roshan & Jr. NTR’s War 2 to Release in 5000 Screens on Independence Day

The makers of the highly anticipated War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, are strategically planning for a very extensive Hindi release, aiming to reach a broad audience. Slated to be released in theatres on August 14th, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is expected to be shown on a staggering count of 5000 screens across India for its Hindi version, a figure that is not often seen in the industry.

The upcoming release is being met with huge anticipation and excitement, particularly as War 2 is scheduled to clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Although, reports from Sacnilk indicate that the Hindi-speaking regions are showing strong preference for the Hrithik and Jr. NTR film. Reports say that YRF has acquired approximately 90% of the single screens across the country for the Hindi version, thus leaving Coolie with a comparatively smaller allocation. War 2 is also expected to occupy around 80–85% of the multiplex screens and will be released in premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX, ICE, and Dolby Cinema, promising a high-quality viewing experience.

The distribution dominance also extends to the southern states, where Hindi film releases are somewhat limited in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Puducherry. The advance bookings for the Hindi version are supposed to commence on August 10th, with the Telugu and Tamil versions becoming available on August 11th. In the Telugu-speaking regions, Hindi bookings will also begin on August 11, after official approval for increased ticket prices. With War 2, industry analysts are predicting one of the biggest openings for a Hindi film, with the Independence Day weekend expected to hugely boost revenue.

The journey to release however has been with some challenges. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) requested that the filmmakers remove “inappropriate references” in six instances, replace an “obscene” dialogue with a more appropriate one, and delete an “obscene” gesture performed by a character. The film is set to be released in theatres on August 14th, and the expectations are high.
