When Rajesh Khanna Told Twinkle Khanna to Keep an Eye on Akshay Kumar

Rajesh Khanna, Hindi cinema’s first superstar, continues to inspire generations. He gave us memorable films such as Anand, Amar Prem, Bawarchi, Aradhana, Ittefaq and more. The legendary actor passed away on July 18 in 2012, at the age of 69. His daughter, Twinkle Khanna, has often spoken about the deep bond she shared with her father. Once a video of the late actor surfaced online in which he was seen advising Twinkle on her husband, actor Akshay Kumar.

In the video, Rajesh Khanna is seen interacting with the media where he states, “Iss umar me toh humara jo jamai raja hai vo boht gaata hai. Kabhi vo Bhool Bhulaiya karta hai kabhi Hera Pheri. Boht hera pheri karta hai. Hera pheri wala he aadmi hai vo. Maine apni beti ko bhi bola hai. Maine kaha hai, “Dekh Tina baba, lagaam kheech k rakhna lekin itni bhi nahi kheechna ke toot jae.” (At this age, our son-in-law sings a lot. Sometimes he does Bhool Bhulaiyaa, sometimes Hera Pheri. He does a lot of hera pheri (mischief). He’s a hera pheri kind of guy. I’ve told my daughter as well. I said, ‘Listen Tina, keep a tight rein on him but not so tight that it snaps.'”

Rajesh Khanna was extremely fond of Akshay Kumar too, and the resurfacing of this statement is all in good humour. The actor once reflected on marrying Rajesh Khanna’s daughter and said, “I never imagined that I would marry Rajesh Khanna ji’s daughter. Never thought of it. I used to go to his office with my photos and say, ‘Sir, please give me some work.'”
