Exclusive: “Nysa and Yug are the chamatkaars of my life” – Kajol on motherhood

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Kajol shared her perspective on her life’s chamatkaars. When questioned about the same, the actress stated that while she doesn’t believe in a single grand miracle, she has experienced two big ones: her children, Nysa and Yug. She lovingly acknowledged, “One is Nysa, and the other is Yug,” sharing that everything else in her life is a bonus.

Kajol, known for sharing moments with her daughter Nysa (who she also affectionately calls Missa) and son Yug, said that a mother’s fulfilment does not require a miracle. She added, “The love a mother has for her child doesn’t need a miracle. It just flows into your life beautifully.”

These sentiments are also quite relevant currently, as she prepares for the release of her upcoming film, Maa, where she portrays a mother going through a deeply emotional and haunting journey to protect her daughter. Her thoughts on motherhood also provide a perspective into what she brings to the role.

For Kajol, motherhood is not just another chapter in her life, but also something that has influenced the way she sees the world. She sees her children not just as a part of her life, but as the greatest chamatkaars she could ever have. Her honesty and real emotions definitely have a connect with all the mothers out there and reminds everyone that sometimes, the biggest miracles in life are right in front of us.

Maa, slated to release in theatres tomorrow on June 27, features Kajol in an intense role of a mother giving her all for her daughter’s safety. It is set in the same universe of Shaitaan and promises to bring a new depth to the horror genre with its story and characters. Directed by Vishal Furia, it also stars Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta.
