Mamitha Baiju & Sangeeth Prathap To Headline Writer Dinoy Paulose’s Directorial Debut
Actor-writer Dinoy Paulose, celebrated for co-writing the 2019 coming-of-age smash Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, is stepping behind the camera for the first time with a directorial venture—tentatively titled Production No. 20. The project was unveiled recently via an illustrated poster showcasing the film’s leads, Mamitha Baiju and Sangeeth Prathap, under a catchy tagline: “Love was never on the menu… until they accidentally ordered each other.”
Paulose’s journey from supporting actor to screenwriter and now director has been marked by a distinct voice in Malayalam cinema. After his breakthrough as a co-writer on Thanneer Mathan Dinangal—which captured the quirks of adolescent life—he wrote and starred in Pathrosinte Padappukal and Vishudha Mejo, proving his knack for blending humour, heart, and relatable characters. In taking the director’s chair, Paulose promises to deliver the same warmth and wit that audiences have come to expect, but this time through the lens of his own visionary storytelling.
A Dream Team Behind the Camera
Backing the new film is producer Ashiq Usman, who continues to champion fresh voices under the Ashiq Usman Productions banner. The film’s technical crew unites Paulose with several stellar collaborators: Akhil George will wield the camera, bringing his eye for vivid, naturalistic frames; editor Chaman Chakko will stitch together the narrative with his trademark rhythmic pacing; and composer Govind Vasantha is on board to craft a score that underscores every twist in this accidental romance.
Notably, Mamitha Baiju and Sangeeth Prathap have chemistry both on and off screen. Their quirky performance in the mega hit film Premalu raises expectations among the audience, and now, promises a more intimate character dynamics and playful banter in this new offering. As they navigate everything from the film’s humorous first encounters to its deeper emotional beats, audiences can expect performances that balance light-hearted fun with genuine warmth.
Mamitha’s Expanding Horizon
Mamitha Baiju has become one of South cinema’s most sought-after talents. She currently has four Tamil projects lined up: Vijay’s politically tinged drama Jana Nayagan, Ram Kumar’s Irandu Vaanam starring Vishnu Vishal, the forthcoming Dude with Pradeep Ranganathan, and a new venture opposite Suriya under director Venky Atluri. Each role underscores her versatility, from girl-next-door charm to nuanced dramatic turns.
Sangeeth’s Next Steps
Sangeeth Prathap is equally busy. On his slate are Hridayapoorvam, a collaboration with Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad, and It’s a Medical Miracle, which marks his debut in a lead role.
As the new film moves toward its filming phase, anticipation is already high for how Dinoy Paulose will translate his witty, observational writing into a fully realized cinematic vision. If his past work is any indication, audiences are in for a delightful blend of humour, heart, and unexpected romance.
