Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir’s film Sardaar Ji 3 might not be releasing in India, but the Punjabi singer-actor has found himself in hot water. As per a report, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President, BN Tiwari, has planned to issue an official directive to ban Diljit and the film’s producers in India.
India Today quoted him as saying, “None of their films and projects would be allowed to be released in India. There would be complete cooperation from the Indian film industry.” As per the publication, an official statement will be released later today. This might cause trouble for the actor as he is slated to star in the Bollywood film Border 2.
BN Tiwari had earlier issued a warning to Diljit over collaborating with the Pakistani actress. He said, “If Diljit Dosanjh or any other artist continues to act like this, an action will not just be taken against their film but against them as well. They will be accused of non-cooperation. We have no place for traitors. The film industry cannot support people who are against this country. We need to stop people who are sitting in India but are helping others. We are getting multiple names. They will be ousted from the industry if they do not work for the betterment of the country.”
The ban on Pakistani artistes came after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April this year.
Meanwhile, the producer of the film has backed Hania’s casting by saying that the shooting was done before the attack. Gunbir Singh Sindhu said, “The film was shot before the conflict with Pakistan. Keeping sentiments on India in mind, no India release for the movie.”
Besides Hania, the film also stars other Pakistani artistes such as Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar and Saleem Albela. Sardaar Ji 3 will have an overseas release on June 27.
