Darsheel Safary Says He’s Too Shy to Ask Aamir Khan for Roles Post Taare Zameen Par

Darsheel Safary, who touched hearts with his role in Taare Zameen Par, has revealed why he never asks Aamir Khan for roles, even though the two share a strong history from their 2007 hit film. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, the actor opened up about choosing to build his acting career on his own, without using big names or contacts for help.
“After the pandemic, every project I’ve done has come through auditions and screen tests. It helps me know whether I fit the role, and it gives the same clarity to producers,” Darsheel explained. He shared that working without personal connections gives him confidence and keeps the process fair.

Darsheel Safary on asking work to Aamir khanEven though fans keep asking why he doesn’t reach out to Aamir Khan again, Darsheel said he feels too shy to ask for favours. “People get upset that I don’t ask Aamir for work. But I feel too shy to do that. He is not my brother, so I can’t just call and say, ‘Please give me a role,’” he said honestly. He added that he prefers to send Aamir birthday wishes or good luck messages, rather than asking for professional help.

Darsheel also shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan’s new film Sitaare Zameen Par, which is being called the spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. While Darsheel is not in the movie, he praised it after watching it. In an Instagram story, he said, “My heart feels fuller, softer, and happier. The film holds up a mirror with humour, grace and heart. No pity, no preaching. Just presence, joy and strength.

He urged fans to watch the movie in theatres and not wait for an online release. “Some stories ask for silence, a screen, and your full heart. You’ll walk in curious and walk out a little more human,” he wrote. Darsheel first won hearts as Ishaan Awasthi, a dyslexic child whose life changes after meeting a kind teacher, played by Aamir. The film became a major hit and is still remembered for its emotional impact and strong message about understanding children better.
