Jaya Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman and Others Attend Kamini Kaushal’s Prayer Meet
Veteran actor Kamini Kaushal, who passed away at 98 last week, was remembered in Mumbai as members of the film industry gathered to honour her long and impactful journey in cinema. The prayer meet saw familiar faces like Jaya Bachchan and Waheeda Rehman quietly arriving to offer their final respects to the much loved actor who inspired generations with her work.

The gathering took place on Tuesday, and several clips from the venue were shared online. Jaya Bachchan was among the earliest to reach the hall, dressed in a simple white outfit and seen warmly greeting other senior guests. Waheeda Rehman arrived soon after in a graceful saree, and for a moment, both were seen speaking softly to each other, reflecting their shared memories and respect for Kamini Kaushal.
Actor Raza Murad also attended the meet. As reported, the atmosphere inside was calm and sincere. The hall had no elaborate decorations, and there were no speeches, keeping the focus on silence and remembrance. Those present spent a few moments reflecting on Kamini Kaushal’s remarkable work and the way she carried herself throughout her long career in Indian cinema.

Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14, and her final rites were performed at the Worli crematorium in the presence of close family members. Soon after, many from the industry including Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher shared heartfelt tributes on social media. Her journey began in 1946 with Chetan Anand’s Neecha Nagar which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes. Over the years, she delivered memorable performances in films like Biraj Bahu, Shaheed, Arzoo and Ziddi. In her later years, she appeared in films such as Chennai Express, Kabir Singh and Laal Singh Chaddha leaving behind a legacy that will always be remembered.
