Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat box office Day 8: Harshvardhan’s film nears Rs 50 crore

Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, which released on Diwali alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’, has turned out to be a surprise box office success. The film is now on the verge of crossing the Rs 50 crore mark in India, performing well despite stiff competition from a big-banner release.

According to Sacnilk, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ collected Rs 3.5 crore on Monday and Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday (Day 8), bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 49.25 crore. Made on a modest Rs 25 crore budget, the Milap Zaveri directorial has not only recovered its production cost but also surpassed the lifetime collection of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ (Rs42.28 crore).

While ‘Thamma’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has crossed Rs 95.6 crore, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ continues to hold its ground as a strong performer, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The film’s emotional intensity and melodramatic storytelling seem to have struck a chord with audiences beyond the metros.

“When a strong-willed superstar falls in love with a powerful politician, their passionate romance swiftly turns into a dangerous game of obsession, pride, and heartbreak,” teases the official synopsis of the film.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, the film follows politician Vikramaditya Bhonsle, whose world is upended after meeting actor Adaa Randhawa. Their passionate affair spirals into obsession and heartbreak.
