‘Slow Horses’ Season 5 Trailer: Gary Oldman Is Ready for His Performance Review

Gary Oldman doesn’t belong in Slough House, but here we are.

On Wednesday, Apple TV+ released the trailer for season five of Slow Horses. In it, Jackson Lamb (Oldman), River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) and the rest of the MI5 rejects are on the case — and a bit on the defense. The fifth Slow Horses season, adapted from Mick Herron’s Slough House book series, consists of six episodes and will premiere on Sept. 24. Episodes will roll out weekly until Oct. 29.

“In season five of Slow Horses, everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected,” the logline reads. “After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply.”

Poor Roddy (Christopher Chung). A guy gets one pretty girlfriend and the only possible explanation to UK intelligence is that he must have participated in a terrorist attack.

Watch the season five trailer:

Slow Horses is an espionage dramedy following Slough House, which is comprised of spies that blew it on the MI5 main roster. The series also stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Tom Brooke and Jonathan Pryce. Season five will feature guest star Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso).

The series is produced by See-Saw Films; it was adapted for television by Will Smith — not thatWill Smith, this one. Put some respect on Smith’s name: he’s won the sole Emmy for the series (for writing). Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux and Graham Yost executive produce the series. Saul Metzstein returns to direct season five.
