‘Dutton Ranch’: Ed Harris Joins ‘Yellowstone’ Beth-Rip Spinoff
Yellowstone‘s Beth and Rip spinoff is starting to saddle up.
Ed Harris is the newest cast addition to the follow-up series that is centered on Kelly Reilly’s and Cole Hauser’s fan-favorite characters. The show takes place after the events of the Yellowstone flagship series, which concluded December 2024 and ended with Beth Dutton and husband Rip Wheeler moving to a new ranch in Montana.
The Paramount+ series has the working title of Dutton Ranch and already counts Annette Bening among its cast, as well as Finn Little, who will reprise his Yellowstone role as Beth and Rip’s adopted son, Carter.
Westworld star Harris will play Everett McKinney, who is described as “a weathered veteran and veterinarian who treats animals with compassion and understanding and has a good sense of humor,” while Bening will play a character named Beulah Jackson, who’s described as a “powerful, cunning and charming” woman who heads a major ranch in Texas.

Hauser recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his excitement to step back into Rip’s boots. “Kelly and I are focused on [Rip and Beth’s] relationship and our love together, and what we’re going to get [them] into,” he said. “I’m excited just like everybody else.”
Here’s the logline: “Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter (Little) becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”
Harris joins the growing list of A-list talent within Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone-verse, also including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren with prequel series 1923 and Michelle Pfeiffer, who is leading the upcoming modern-day spinoff The Madison.
In addition to Dutton Ranch and The Madison, the sprawling Yellowstone franchise also includes prequel series 1883 and CBS’ upcoming Y: Marshals, which returns Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. Another prequel, 1944, is in development following the likely conclusion of 1923.
