Boney Kapoor Files Petition in Madras High Court Over Illegal Claims on Sridevi’s Chennai Property

Boney Kapoor has recently filed a petition in Madras High Court while alleging that three individually are illegally claiming ownership of a farmhouse in Chennai, which is under his late wife Sridevi’s name. As per Hindu, Boney has alleged that the individuals have been involved in a “fraud.” The now disputed property is located on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai. Sridevi purchased it on April 19, 1988 from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. The property was mutually divided by the Mudaliar family in 1960, after which Sridevi lawfully acquired a part of it.

Now, as per Boney’s claims, three individuals, specifically a woman and her two sons have been pushing for legal rights over the property. Moreover, the woman also alleges she is the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s sons. She reportedly married the said son in 1975. In his petition, Boney also questioned the claim, since the man’s first wife was alive till 1999. This makes the alleged marriage unlawful.

The petition also questions Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar, who issued a legal heirship certificate to the three individuals. The petition clearly asks the court to revoke the heirship certificate and prevent the transfer of any ownership.

Boney and Sridevi tied the knot in June 1996. They have two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, while attending a family wedding in Dubai. Their daughters, Janhvi and Khushi are Bollywood actors. Janhvi made her debut with Dhadak in 2018 while Khushi was first seen in The Archies in 2023. The two sisters have spoken about fond memories with their mother time and again, at award shows, events and chat shows. Boney Kapoor shares heartwarming photos with Sridevi on social media as well.
