At the book launch event, Akshay shared that he maintains a weekly practice to stay light and energetic. He observes full day fasts every Monday. He said, “I fast on Mondays, like a full day fast. Sunday is the last meal, and then after that, Monday is a full day fast till Tuesday morning.”

During the conversation, Akshay also mentioned that he usually finishes his dinner by 6:30 PM. The reason he provided is that he believes eating dinner early is crucial for the body’s well-being. He explained that when we sleep, our eyes, legs, hands, and essentially every part of our body are in a state of rest. However, if we eat a late dinner, we do not allow our stomach sufficient time to rest properly.

He added, “By the time you get up, it is time for your stomach to relax. But when we get up, we eat our breakfast, and again the poor stomach is working. It’s working very hard. I’m explaining it in a very, very simple way. And you all know how important it is to keep our stomach healthy because all the diseases that exist come from there.”

Lastly, Akshay also cautioned against crash diets or depending on processed foods, and mentioned that he refrains from weightlifting, preferring activities such as rock climbing, outdoor sports, and bodyweight exercises. He humorously mentioned that his gym is “for monkeys,” as it is primarily designed for climbing and hanging exercises rather than conventional weight training.
