Coolie Versus War 2: Rajinikanth’s Film Sprints Ahead on Day 6

Rajinikanth’s Coolie is still going strong at the box office, even though the weekday slowdown has started showing its effect. On Day 6, Tuesday, the film earned around Rs 9.50 crore, which pushed its India total to an impressive Rs 216 crore net. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial began its journey with a thunderous Independence Day weekend, despite dips, it has managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in less than a week.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 is not far behind. The big action entertainer collected Rs 8.25 crore on Tuesday, Day 6, taking its domestic total past Rs 190 crore. Both films hit theatres on the same day, sparking a high-voltage box office battle. So far, Coolie has kept a slight edge, but the competition between Rajinikanth’s mass action drama and the slick, stylish War 2 is keeping trade analysts and fans hooked.

The numbers from the opening weekend show how Coolie started out on top. The Rajinikanth starrer opened with a massive Rs 65 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs 54.75 crore on Friday. Saturday and Sunday, however, saw a steady drop with Rs 39.5 crore and Rs 35.25 crore respectively. The weekdays brought an even sharper fall, with Monday pulling in Rs 12 crore and Tuesday settling at Rs 9.50 crore. Even then, the film has managed to stay ahead of its rivals.

On the global front, Coolie has turned into a massive success story. The film has already crossed Rs 400 crore worldwide within its first week, putting it among Rajinikanth’s biggest earners. With the film still performing well overseas and holding an upper hand over War 2 in India, Coolie looks set to continue its strong run and remain one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
