Report: Amitabh Bachchan Set to Be The Narrator in Ramayana Apart From Playing Jatayu?
Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, Ramayana, has been in the news recently, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the leading roles. It has also been reported that Amitabh Bachchan will be doing the voiceover for the character of Jatayu and will also be the film’s narrator.
An insider told Midday, “We’re exploring the idea of having Bachchan as the sutradhar. His voice adds gravitas that no one else can match. The makers are keen that the film opens with his voice. It’s still at the discussion stage. While the clash is a concern, there will be ways to work it out on a creative level. Having him open the film and be the spiritual narrator will have a strong impact.”

On July 3, the makers had a global launch of Ramayana: The Introduction, which set the scene for the timeless conflict between two of mythology’s most iconic figures: Rama and Ravana. The launch was global, including fan screenings across nine Indian cities and a remarkable billboard takeover in Times Square, New York. Directed by filmmaker-producer Namit Malhotra and co-produced by Yash, Ramayana brings together a remarkable team of Oscar-winning technicians, Hollywood’s most talented creators, and India’s most prominent figures in acting and storytelling. It will reimagine one of Indian culture’s most influential epics as a state-of-the-art cinematic universe based designed for a global audience.
Earlier, Sunny Deol who will play the role of Hanuman in the film, revealed that he hasn’t started filming yet but will begin work on the film very shortly. As he prepares for this important role, he shared his thoughts and feelings, saying, “It will be exciting, it will be fun. It’s going to be great, it’s going to be beautiful.”
However, he admitted that there is also a sense of nervousness associated with playing such a highly worshipped character. He said, “See, nervousness or fear, that factor is there. But that’s the beauty of it, because you have to find within yourself how you’re going to take up the challenge and how you’re going to live up to it. And you’re getting the opportunity to do it, and I’m very sure Amit, the producer, they’re doing a great job of it.”
Earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor also shared his enthusiasm, mentioning that he was approaching the role with the utmost sincerity and discipline, even modifying his lifestyle to align with the spiritual responsibility of playing Lord Ram. Sunny’s entry as Hanuman has also increased the excitement, considering his commanding screen presence and iconic “dhai kilo ka haath” persona that his fans have long admired.
With cutting-edge technology, a legendary mythological tale, and a dream ensemble cast, Ramayana is being hailed as India’s response to Hollywood’s epic franchises. To this even Sunny Deol mentioned, “When it comes to the big screen, I’m sure there will be justice to everything, and people will feel satisfied and enjoy the whole film.”
