Thama: Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Paresh Rawal’s First Looks Revealed
The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is described as a vampire comedy and is part of Maddock Films’ growing horror comedy franchise. Ayushmann will be seen as Alok, introduced as “Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed,” while Rashmika plays Tadaka, described as “Roshni ki ek hi paheli kiran.” Nawazuddin steps into the role of Yakshasan, the dark and mysterious “Andhere ka Badshah,” and Paresh Rawal will be seen as Mr Ram Bajaj Goyal, a quirky character who looks for tragedy even in comedy.
Interestingly, the title Thama is inspired by Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior from the Mahabharata. Staying true to its roots in Indian mythology while adding layers of horror and comedy, the film is shaping up to be a unique blend of genres. The makers promise a story that balances thrills and laughs while also exploring deeper mythological themes.
At the heart of the film is Ayushmann’s character, a historian, who sets out to uncover the mythological origins of vampirism in Indian folklore. The story unfolds across two different eras, modern day India and the ancient Vijayanagar empire, linked together by a haunting love story. With its mix of mythology, fantasy, comedy and horror, Thama is being positioned as one of the most exciting films of 2025 and will hit cinemas this Diwali.
