Karan Johar Calls Aryan Khan His Firstborn As He Shares Childhood Photos of Shah Rukh Khan’s Son

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan yesterday dropped the first look of his debut directorial series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The star kid’s friends and close industry associates took to social media to praise him and wish him luck for his show. Among them was filmmaker Karan Johar, whose relationship with the Khan family goes back a long way.

Karan re-posted Aryan’s childhood stills from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and penned a heartfelt note. He wrote, “love… @_aryan_ is my first born from my heart and am so proud of his sincerity! His relentless hard work and how his mind works with mainstream masala and cool narrative energy in equal measure. … #badsofbollywood is on its way … hope you’re ready for this mega ride!

For the uninitiated, a young Aryan played SRK’s baby version in Karan’s K3G. This is not the first time the filmmaker has spoken highly about SRK’s son. A couple of months back, he spoke about Aryan’s show in a podcast and said, “I don’t know if I’m even supposed to say this, but I have a huge belief in Aryan Khan’s directorial talent. I don’t want to say anything about his Netflix show, because he’ll get very angry, but all I’ll say is this: watch out. If there is a King, there will be a Prince. I can say this with confidence because I’ve seen the show. He has an individualistic voice as a director. He’s not anything like you’d expect Shah Rukh Khan’s son to be. He’s his own person. He works quietly; he doesn’t carry the baggage of his father, he doesn’t carry the weight of his legacy. He works hard; he works 20 hours a day. He is a rare personality type.”

Meanwhile, the first look of The Ba***ds of Bollywood was revealed, giving audiences their first taste of Aryan’s vision. What begins as a soft, filmy homage quickly twists into something sharper, cheekier, and unapologetically new. This series signals a generational shift, the romance of old Hindi cinema clashing with the irreverence of today’s storytelling.

It stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor. The preview of the series is all set to drop on August 20. The Ba***ds of Bollywood will be released on Netflix.
