Rajkummar Rao on Stree 2’s First Anniversary: “The Love This Film Has Received Will Stay With Me”
One year ago, Stree 2 brought audiences back to the world of small-town scares, quick-witted banter and a love story laced with mystery. At its heart was Rajkummar Rao’s unforgettable performance as Vicky. He played the good-natured yet reluctant hero whose charm and vulnerability made the supernatural chaos even more entertaining. The film was not only a hit with critics and audiences but went on to become the highest box office grosser of the year. That’s quite a rare feat for a horror comedy. For Rajkummar, the success was both professionally rewarding and personally humbling.
“I will always be grateful for what Stree 2 has given me,” Rajkummar opened up. He further added, “As an actor, you hope every film finds its audience, but the love and support this one received has been overwhelming. Vicky is such a special character to me, and getting to revisit him with this incredible team was pure joy. The love and response this film received will always remain special.”
After Stree 2, Rajkummar has also starred in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Bhool Chuk Maaf and Maalik. Speaking about Stree 2 at Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’s trailer launch, Rao had said, “The numbers prove that people have watched the movie and given it a lot of love. Many people made me emotional by calling the success of the movie their personal victories. It made me realize that many people had associated themselves with my journey as an actor.”
On the work front, he will next be seen in Toaster alongside Sanya Malhotra. The movie will also mark the maiden production of Patralekhaa and Rajkummar Rao’s production house Kampa Films.
The actor also recently announced about expecting his first child with Patralekhaa. Sharing a “baby on the way” creative, the two of them wrote, “Elated.” Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kiara Advani, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and more congratulated the couple.
