A day before the release of War 2 and Coolie, Hrithik Roshan took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt tribute to superstar Rajinikanth, who recently completed 50 years in the Indian film industry.
“Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, @rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic!” Hrithik wrote, reminiscing about his time as a child actor alongside Rajinikanth in Bhagwaan Dada (1986).

Hrithik’s post not only honoured Rajinikanth’s incredible career but also stood out for its warmth and humility. Fans were quick to praise the gesture, calling Hrithik the most secure Indian actor for celebrating another star while promoting his own film.
The War 2 actor’s message was seen as a show of good faith and a celebration of Indian cinema’s enduring icons. Rajinikanth’s journey from debuting in 1975 to becoming one of the most revered and bankable names in global cinema remains unmatched.
Meanwhile, War 2 marks Hrithik Roshan’s return as Major Kabir, a character that became a fan favourite after the massive success of War (2019), which was the highest-grossing film of its release year. The sequel is part of Yash Raj Films’ ambitious Spy Universe and is the sixth instalment in the franchise. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, War 2 brings together a high-profile cast including NTR Jr and Kiara Advani. The film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14.
With his post, Hrithik not only built excitement for his own release but also reinforced a sense of camaraderie and respect that bridges generations in the industry.
