Did You Know Sidharth Malhotra Learnt Kalaripayattu for Param Sundari?
Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor are gearing up for the release of Param Sundari. The movie marks their first collaboration on screen. Sidharth stars as Param, a North Indian fellow, who falls in love with the South Indian woman Sundari, played by Janhvi Kapoor. The trailer for the movie was recently released. The makers have recently revealed that Sidharth Malhotra learnt the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu for certain scenes in the movie.

Interestingly, Kalaripayattu is said to be India’s oldest martial art. Its history spans over 3,000 years. It is also used as a healing therapy or Marma chikitsa, where specific points are stimulated all over the body to enhance energy flow. It promotes rapid healing.
The actor also trained for sequences with elephants. He learnt complex moves with extra care and precision. Sidharth shared, “With Param Sundari, I feel like I’m revisiting the kind of romance I grew up loving, but telling it in a way that feels fresh and relatable. Param has that Delhi boy charm, with a love story that makes you cross worlds. We wanted it to look as beautiful as it feels, and Kerala’s magic really made that happen. I hope the audience feels the same warmth and joy we felt while making it.”
The trailer offered lightheartedness with tinges of drama. It is filmed amidst the beautiful scenery of Kerala. The trailer shows the blend of rain-soaked roads, leisurely backwater bike rides and the architectural splendour of ancient churches. It also includes a thrilling scene based on the classic romance of the much-loved pair, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. In a pivotal scene, Sundari also lashed out at Param and his friend. She labeled them “arrogant, entitled, and prejudiced North Indians.”
