Report: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War to Be Filmed at Historic British-era Army Camp in MP

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War has constantly been in the limelight since its inception, with its release reportedly being planned for 2026. This period drama consists of an ensemble cast, including the real-life couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, along with Vicky Kaushal. The filming has been happening in Mumbai, and further schedules are planned for Europe. According to a news portal, the next filming location will be Madhya Pradesh.

As reported by India Today, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is planning to film in Mhow, a town in Madhya Pradesh, which is known for its historical army base dating back to the British era. The location was selected to capture the artillery and settings of the pre-independence period, as the film requires authentic visuals from that era.

Ranbir Kapoor

A source said, “The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions. Once that is cleared, they will fly to MP to kick-start the shoot.”

According to the report, after the Madhya Pradesh schedule, the cast and crew will be travelling to Italy in October for the next phase of filming. While the filmmakers are aiming to conclude shooting by the end of 2025, reports say that Love & War has faced some delays. The film is based on a passionate love story set against the backdrop of a fictional war, exploring the themes of friendship, emotional connections, and the sacrifices done in love.

Love & War also happens to reunite both Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with Vicky Kaushal on-screen post their 2018 films. Alia previously worked with Ranbir in Brahmastra: Part 1 Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji. She also worked with Vicky Kaushal in Raazi. Ranbir has also previously worked with Vicky in Sanju. Lately, both Ranbir and Alia were seen visiting Bhansali’s Mumbai office quite frequently, which hints at the film’s preps going on in full flow.
