Salman Khan Opens Up About Why He Never Bought an IPL Team

Salman Khan recently shared an interesting detail, mentioning that he was offered a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when it first began in 2008. During an event in Mumbai, when asked about his potential interest in acquiring an IPL team in the future, Salman Khan responded in his own style, “IPL ke liye too old ho gaye hum (I am too old to buy an IPL team now). IPL offer hua tha us waqt, liya nahi (The IPL offer was made earlier, but I didn’t accept it at that time). Aisa nahi hai ki pachta rahe hain hum. Khush hi hain hum” (It is not like I have any regrets, I am happy).

Several prominent stars from Bollywood have made investments in the Indian Premier League. For example, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla are the owners of the three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders, and Preity Zinta is a co-owner of the Punjab Kings, who were the runners-up in the 2025 season.

Salman Khan’s upcoming film, Battle of Galwan, which is based on the 2020 India-China Galwan Valley conflict, is said to be one of his most physically demanding roles. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, known for Shootout at Lokhandwala, the film will show Salman Khan in intense action sequences and challenging shooting conditions in Ladakh.

Salman shared, “It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I have to give more time now for training. Earlier, I would do it in one or two weeks, now I’m running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that.”
