Shah Rukh Khan Thanks Shashi Tharoor for Keeping His Praise ‘simple’
Politician Shashi Tharoor was among the many who wished Shah Rukh Khan on his first-ever National Award win for Jawan. And King Khan, too, responded to him in his witty way. Tharoor wrote, “A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk!” The politician is known for his rich vocabulary and lexical wealth. But SRK was happy that he used ‘simple’ terms to praise him. Responding to the Congress MP, the actor wrote, “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor. Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian ha ha.”

Needless to say, SRK’s witty response left netizens in splits. One user wrote, “When it comes to wit I am sure SRK would be standing at the top. Congratulations King” while another netizen added, “I just love that… manglwueny & colloquial….witty banter … something really magnanimous & stupendous ! Congratulations”
Shah Rukh Khan won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2023 film, Jawan. The superstar shared a video stating his excitement for the honour and wrote, “Thank you for honouring me with the National Award. Thanks to the jury, the I&B ministry. Iss samman ke liye Bharat Sarkar ka dhanyawaad. Overwhelmed with the love showered upon me. Half a hug to everyone today….”

In the video, he thanked his directors, family and fans for supporting him throughout. “Namashkar and Aadab. Needless to say, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. To be honoured with a National Award is a moment I will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman and the I&B ministry and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour,” he said.
He also thanked his wife and kids for understanding and respecting his love for cinema.
