Box Office Report: Son of Sardaar 2 Races Ahead of Dhadak 2 During Opening Weekend
Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 has taken a comfortable lead at the box office, clearly leaving behind Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2. The sequel, packed with action and Ajay’s signature swagger, pulled in a stronger crowd over the weekend, earning almost double of what Dhadak 2 could manage. That said, neither film has sparked the kind of excitement or box office frenzy we saw recently with Saiyaara, which has become the unexpected success story of the season.

According to early numbers from Sacnilk, Son of Sardaar 2 earned around Rs 24.75 crore during its first weekend. It opened with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday, grew to Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday, and finished strong with Rs 9.25 crore on Sunday. While it hasn’t broken any records, the film clearly had better word of mouth and a stronger pull among the audience compared to the other new releases.
Dhadak 2 meanwhile had a quieter start. The film made Rs 3.5 crore on its first day and saw only a slight rise over the next two days, Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.25 crore on Sunday. With a weekend total of Rs 11.50 crore, the film has had a lukewarm response at best and hasn’t quite connected with viewers the way the makers might have hoped.
But the film that is still ruling the box office is Saiyaara. Directed by Mohit Suri and starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the romantic drama has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in just three weekends. That is no small feat, especially in the post pandemic era. It is one of those rare films that just clicked with the audience, and it is not slowing down anytime soon.
