CBFC Censors Xi Jinping’s Reference in Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, Recommends Three More Changes
Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s Son of Sardaar 2 is finally releasing on August 1. It was supposed to hit the theatres on July 25, but the release date was pushed due to the massive craze for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara. But now, reports suggest that the Censor Board of Film Certification has recommended some changes in Son of Sardaar 2’s final cut.
While the Examining Committee of the CBFC did not suggest any changes to the action scenes, certain dialogues needed to be altered. The makers were asked to remove the mention of Xi Jinping, the President of China. The word ‘item’ has been replaced with Madam, and ‘Kutte ki tarah’ was changed to ‘Bahut buri tarah’. The fourth and final change is a sentence that began with “Bhagwan…”. The censor board asked the makers to replace it with an appropriate dialogue.
After the changes, the film was passed with a U/A 13+ certificate. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the runtime is 147.32 minutes.
Meanwhile, days before it hits the big screen, the film is also facing a major hurdle. The Ajay Devgn starrer is struggling to secure enough show timings across several cinema chains. As per a Pinkvilla report, the film’s distributors are pushing for 60 per cent of total show slots at theatres, but many cinema owners are not on board. “Exhibitors are willing to allot not more than 35 per cent of shows at their properties,” the report states. Some single screens have reportedly agreed to two shows a day, but non-national multiplex chains are holding back, capping Devgn’s film at 35 per cent of their daily show count.
Besides Ajay and Mrunal, the film also stars Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Panday, Sharat Saxena and Vindu Dara Singh, among others.
