“Ranbir Kapoor Was My Senior in School” – Addinath Kothare, Who Plays Bharat in Ramayana, Recalls

Addinath Kothare is aware that being involved in the grand production of Ramayana is an exceptional opportunity. He specifically talked about him valuing the chance to work with the director Nitesh Tiwari on this two-part drama. The actor, who portrays Bharat alongside Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama in the film, which also features Sai Pallavi and Yash, expresses that it has been inspiring to witness Nitesh Tiwari’s direction of this epic, which is undoubtedly one of the most significant Indian films of recent times. Addinath shared, “The way he is so patient and in control of what he wants is awe-inspiring. He is absolutely clear about his vision. That makes it easy for him to communicate his needs to the team.”

As a director himself, Addinath is certainly familiar with the pressures involved in filmmaking. This understanding allows him to appreciate Nitesh Tiwari’s composed demeanour even more. Addinath who has directed Paani (2024), mentioned, “I never saw the pressure of a big film getting to him. When the captain of the ship is so experienced, so grounded, and humble, it’s a delight for any artiste to be on that side.”

It was equally a pleasure for him to share the screen with Ranbir Kapoor. In his first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor, Addinath expressed his admiration for the star, saying, “He is such a secure, sincere, and focused actor. It was inspiring to see him work. He was my senior in school, but I didn’t get to meet him at the time. Now it’s such a coincidence that I got to work with him! I mentioned this to him during our shoot.”

Having worked with Nitesh Tiwari, Addinath Kothare is currently filming with the director and Nitesh’s wife, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, for her upcoming, as-yet-untitled project, which stars Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha. He considers the Tiwaris his favourite real-life couple. He said, “Within a year, I’ve had the privilege of working with both of them. I think they are the most talented couple I’ve ever met.”
