About Masaan
Masaan marked Vicky Kaushal’s first Hindi movie, where he played the lead role. The Indo-French co-production also starred Richa Chadda, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi, among others. It followed the lives of two people from Varanias. Devi (Chadda), a trainer at a coaching centre, is caught by policemen while having sex with her student. This incident leads to the suicide of the young boy, leaving Devi to deal with the guilt and find closure. On the other hand, we have Deepak Kumar (Kaushal), a man from the Dom community and a student at a polytechnic college. His father does not want to see him continue their family job and break out of the cycle. He falls in love with Shalu (Tripathi), a high-caste girl. However, fate has other plans for them.
