‘Superman’ Actor Skyler Gisondo in Talks to Play Ben Stiller’s Son in ‘Meet the Parents 4’

Skyler Gisondo is looking to go from a movie about the Fortress of Solitude to one about the circle of trust.

The actor, fresh off his role in Superman, is in talks to join the cast of the next film in the Meet the Parents franchise as the son of Ben Stiller and Teri Polo‘s characters. Series mainstays Stiller, Polo, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson and Blythe Danner will star alongside newcomer Ariana Grande in the film that Universal releases in theaters Nov. 25, 2026. John Hamburg, who worked on the screenplay for the 2000 original and the two subsequent sequels, is directing from his own script.

Producers include De Niro and Jane Rosenthal for Tribeca Productions, Jay Roach for Delirious Media and Stiller and John Lesher for Red Hour Films. Universal’s executive vp of production development Matt Reilly and director of production development Jacqueline Garrell are overseeing the project for the studio. Paramount Pictures is co-producing and handling international distribution.

Helmed by Roach, Meet the Parents focuses on a nurse (Stiller) having trouble getting accepted by his girlfriend’s overbearing father (De Niro). The 2000 film surpassed $330 million at the global box office, and 2004’s sequel Meet the Fockers, which added Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand to the cast, was even bigger, collecting $522 million worldwide.

Roach directed the first two movies, while Paul Weitz helmed 2010’s Little Fockers. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the latest film will center on Grande playing the tough-minded fiancée to Stiller and Polo’s son.

Gisondo, who co-stars as Jimmy Olsen in this summer’s Warner Bros. hit Superman, is known for such features as Licorice Pizza, Booksmart and Vacation and series including The Righteous Gemstones and The Resort. Gisondo previously played Stiller’s son in 2014’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

During a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his Kevin Hart-Mark Wahlberg comedy Me Time, Hamburg was cagey when asked if another Meet the Parents sequel could happen.

“I will refrain from discussing that question, but I love everybody involved, and we all are still in touch, and I think that’s all I’m gonna say on that,” Hamburg said at the time.

The InSneider was first to report on Gisondo’s involvement.
