Reports: Shahid Kapoor’s Upcoming Film to Clash With Dhurandhar and The RajaSaab ?
On the occasion of Ranveer Singh’s birthday on July 6, it was announced through a first-look video that his much-awaited film, Dhurandhar, is set to release on December 5. Just a week before this announcement, the creators of The RajaSaab, also chose December 5 for the release of the film starring Prabhas. This sparked rumours that Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming, untitled project, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, might not release on the same day and would be postponed to another date, potentially the second Friday of January 2026. However, according to a recent report, the filmmakers of this project have no such plans and intend to stick to the December 5 release date.
A source said, “It was the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s next that took the December 5 slot first. The filming is going on at a steady pace and the film has shaped up well. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is confident of the product and doesn’t feel the need to move from the date that he was the first one to reserve.”
Another insider was reported to have mentioned, “The fact that Sajid Nadiadwala has decided not to move from the December 5 date shows his extreme confidence in his product. The film has an interesting star cast; besides Shahid Kapoor, it also stars Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar and Randeep Hooda. It promises to have not just the trademark Vishal Bhardwaj stamp but also commercial elements, which will make the film worth watching on the big screen. Moreover, since it’s a Vishal Bhardwaj film, it’ll also have some soulful songs. As a result, it can be a film to watch out for.”
Over the past two years, the first Friday of December has become a highly sought after date for film releases. The film Animal released on this day and achieved remarkable success, earning around Rs. 500 crores. Similarly, Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur was released on December 1, 2023, and despite being a serious drama, it also performed well at the box office. In 2024, the highly successful Pushpa 2 was released worldwide on December 5, 2024. It will be interesting to see what will happen this time around with 3 big releases this December.
