Exclusive: Kajol Talks About Her Intense Role in Sarzameen
In a soon-to-be-released episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, Kajol offers a deeper look into her upcoming film Sarzameen. Known for taking on emotionally rich and layered roles, she shares what drew her to the story and why this character stands out. The actress touches on the intensity of the narrative, the evolving relationships at its heart, and the emotional journey that unfolds as the story progresses.
“So, Sarzameen is a very, it’s an emotional film. It is an emotional drama. It is about, it’s about a relationship between these three people and who are caught up in it,” she shares. Adding, “And it’s just series of events that they are caught up in and it’s tight, it’s taut.”
Speaking about her character, Kajol adds, “And her character, her character is called Mehr in the film and she’s such a, in a way, contradictory woman. And there’s so many layers to Mehr. And then, like, as the film goes forward, you’re slowly revealing this side of her, that side of her because as the film, the relationships are revealed, so are the characters, each and every one of them.” She concludes, “And I love the way the whole thing has been written, put together, in fact. And hopefully, when y’all see the film, y’all will understand exactly what I mean when I say that.”
On the professional front, Kajol was recently seen in the supernatural drama Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. She’s now all set for the release of Sarzameen, an emotional drama directed by Kayoze Irani, where she stars alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The film drops on July 25 on Jio Hotstar. Up next, she also has Maharagni lined up with Naseeruddin Shah and Prabhu Deva. Outside of films, Kajol will be seen teaming up with author Twinkle Khanna for a special appearance on an upcoming talk show.
