Exclusive: “New People Aren’t Supposed to Have Answers” – Mohit Suri on Working With Newcomers
Filmmaker Mohit Suri opened up about his experience of working with fresh talent in his latest film Saiyaara. In an exclusive chat with Filmfare, Mohit Suri spoke about how he felt a sense of freedom while directing newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
He said, “I realised that if he is even giving 50% of himself, he is the character of my film. The way he was behaving outside the studio was pretty much what the film required. That was the process.”

Mohit Suri also shared that working with new actors often brings a certain honesty to the performance. He shared, “The thing with new people is, they are not supposed to have answers. If they have the answers, they are not new. They are not supposed to be over-prepared.”
Mohit Suri added that he has always been up for working with fresh faces. He shared, “Probably Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda are the 5th generation of new people I must have worked with. From Emraan Hashmi in Zeher, Kunal Kemmu in Kalyug, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 2, even Sidharth Malhotra in Ek Villain…I was comfortable with this. It was very liberating getting to make the film I wanted to make.”
