“Theatre Has Its Own Magic. It Shouldn’t Be Replaced” – Paresh Rawal on OTT V/s Theatres
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently shared his thoughts on the growing presence of OTT platforms and how it’s affecting theatrical releases. In an exclusive chat with Filmfare, he admitted that while OTT has given many filmmakers a much-needed platform, it cannot replace the charm of watching a film in theatres.
He said, “Many producers released their films on OTT for a good price, and that helped them save face. But the thing with OTT is that you never know whether the film is a hit or flop. You can’t tell. In theatres, it’s different, either the seats are full, or they’re empty. That’s the real test.”

Paresh Rawal emphasized that the experience of watching a movie in a theatre is special. He added, “Theatre has its own magic. It shouldn’t be replaced. A film should be released in cinemas first, and once its run is over, then maybe go to OTT. But overusing OTT isn’t good either.”
At the same time, he appreciated how OTT has opened doors for new and experimental content. He said, “OTT has encouraged people to try different things. That’s a positive side.”
Paresh Rawal is now gearing up for his upcoming film Nikita Roy, which hits theatres tomorrow. The film also includes a cast featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar. It’s a thriller that promises to offer something fresh for audiences who love gripping stories on the big screen.
The actor is also back with the Hera Pheri franchise, having rejoined Hera Pheri 3 after a brief exit, coming back together with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. Fans are excited to see him return as the iconic Babu Bhaiya, a role that continues to bring laughter to generations.
With both new-age thrillers and comedy classics, Paresh Rawal continues to impress his fans and the audience with his versatility and a range of different genres that he completely aces.
