Throwback to when the Ambani wedding began with service and sacred traditions
It’s been a year since the awe-inspiring wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant took place. But before the wedding happened, the Ambani family indulged in a very noble deed. In the spirit of Manav seva hi Madhav seva, which translates to service to humanity is the true service to God, the Ambani family began their wedding celebrations with a Samuhik Vivah, which is a mass wedding, for fifty underprivileged couples at Reliance Corporate Park, Navi Mumbai. This event was attended by over eight hundred guests, with all members of the Ambani family present to offer their blessings and gifts to the couple.
Also, the Ambani family ensured that no one went without food for three weeks during the wedding celebrations. A Bhandara was organized, providing over one thousand lunches and dinners daily through a community kitchen, highlighting the same principle of service to humanity.
The wedding celebrations took place over several days, including a number of significant rituals:
Mosalu
It is a Gujarati tradition where the groom’s maternal uncle blesses the bride and groom with traditional gifts known as Mameru.
Valley of Gods
These were devotional dance performances led by Mrs. Nita Ambani at the Jamnagar temple complex, showcasing a mother’s love and Indian spirituality through dance.
Sangeet
Sangeet, as we all know, was an occasion where family members performed songs and dances for the couple, with memorable performances by both Mukesh and Nita Ambani.
Grah Shanti
This was a pooja performed to pray to Lord Ganesha and the Nava Grah, the nine planets, to remove obstacles, stay far from negative planetary influences, and bring happiness and prosperity to the new couple. This was performed alongside the Puja of Randal Maa, who is a manifestation of Goddess Durga or Parvati.
Peethi/Haldi
This is again, a popular Indian wedding ritual, which brought families together for fun, applying Haldi on the couple.
Bhajans and Shiv Shakti Puja
It is a very important ceremony, honouring the unity and balance of sacred energies, and regarded as a devout event.
The Wedding
In the presence of the sacred fire, elders, and spiritual leaders, the couple began their holy matrimony, participating in the sacred wedding rituals.
The Wedding Receptions
The celebrations extended over three days, accommodating different groups of extended friends, family, associates, and partners. A specific reception was planned and arranged to include all staff members from Antilia, Sea Wind, Karuna Sindhu, and other Ambani residences, including housekeeping, security, secretarial, operational, and maintenance personnel.
