James Gunn and David Corenswet Send Love to Indian Fans, Call Govinda’s Superman Dance The Best

David Corenswet and James Gunn, the dynamic duo behind Superman, have a special message for their Indian fans as their highly talked about DC superhero film released in theatres today. On the occasion of the release, Warner Bros. India’s official social media channels shared a video featuring the Superman team expressing their appreciation for the love they’ve received from India, a sizeable audience for superhero films from both DC and Marvel. Recognizing India’s promising market potential, Hollywood studios have recently been focusing on engaging with Indian audiences. The latest clip further increases the excitement surrounding Superman, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for the DC Universe.

 

On July 10, a video was posted wherein James Gunn, David Corenswet, and Rachel Brosnahan were asked if they were familiar with the popularity of DC within India. The host asked the team, “There are crazy fans all over from India and Superman has been their favourite. Any message for the Indian fans?” James Gunn replied with a smile in the video, “I’m really appreciative of the Indian fans both you know, online and… I can’t wait for them to see Superman because it really is a movie for the world, and everyone, all the people of India.”

James Gunn recalled the event when he posted a meme song on his social media accounts in September 2024. It was a Hindi song featuring Govinda’s iconic dance style. The song was from the film Dariya Dil (1988), where Govinda appeared as Superman and co-star Kimi Katkar as Spider-Man.

 

James Gunn mentioned, recalling the meme, “I love that! That’s the best.”  The host informed the director that the actor was none other than “our legend Govinda.”

David Corenswet added on saying, “Anybody who’s excited about Superman is gonna really love this movie. James loves the character, knows the character very well. The Superman robots, the Kaiju, Krypto…” Rachel Brosnahan shared, “Big adventure, an epic love story, all the things you hope from a Superman film.” David Corenswet concluded by saying, “So India. Look up, July 11.”
