Deepika Padukone becomes first Indian to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

It is a momentous occasion for India, as Deepika Padukone is going to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. She will be the first Indian actor, to receive this prestigious recognition on California’s iconic sidewalk, which stretches along Hollywood Boulevard from Gower to La Brea, and also on Vine Street from Yucca to Sunset. 

According to a report, it was officially announced on Wednesday, that Deepika Padukone’s name would be among those of several distinguished global figures to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

 The announcement was shared during a live press conference held at Ovation Hollywood. Deepika will be honoured with a star, joining other distinguished recipients such as Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Emily Blunt, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Italian actor Franco Nero, and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. 

According to a report, the honourees for the stars were selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection panel from hundreds of nominations during a meeting held on June 20. Their selections were then officially approved by the Chamber’s board of directors on June 25. 

Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros, Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee said, “We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026. These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honour them with this well-deserved recognition.” 

Celebrating this massive achievement, Deepika Padukone posted an Instagram story, which had a simple word, “Gratitude…” 

Along with Deepika, the Indian American actor, writer, producer, and director Mindy Kaling was also honoured with a star earlier this year, marking her as the first South Asian woman to receive this recognition. 

On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Again, and as per reports, will next be seen in King, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
