Sanjay Kapoor fights tears at daughter Shanaya’s Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan launch

Actor Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep Kapoor were present at the trailer launch of their daughter, Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film, ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’, held in Mumbai on Tuesday. The event turned emotional as Sanjay, visibly moved, struggled to hold back his tears while speaking about Shanaya’s foray into Bollywood.

A video from the event has surfaced online, capturing the moment Sanjay was invited on stage to share a few words about his daughter’s debut. Upon stepping up, he embraced the film’s lead actor, Vikrant Massey, before addressing the audience. Fighting back tears, he said, “Main pichle 30 saal se kaam kar raha hoon, but itna nervous nahi raha. Aaj main bahot nervous hoon. Usse pehle ke kuch aansoon nikal jaaye, thank you.” (I have been working for the past 30 years, and I’ve never been this nervous. Today I’m very nervous. Before I shed a few tears. Thank you)

Shanaya looked radiant in a yellow corset saree, while Maheep kept it casual. Vikrant opted for a classic black suit, and Sanjay donned an all-black ensemble for the occasion.

Shanaya was earlier set to debut with ‘Bedhadak’, which was eventually shelved. Now, she is gearing up for her grand debut alongside Vikrant in ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’. Directed by Santosh Singh and written-produced by Mansi Bagla, the film is based on Ruskin Bond’s acclaimed short story ‘The Eyes Have It’. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11.

In addition to this, Shanaya also has ‘Tu Yaa Main’, directed by Bejoy Nambiar and co-starring Adarsh Gourav, lined up for release in 2026.
