Instagram Ban Lifted on Mawra Hocane and Other Pakistani Actors in India
After the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, the Indian government had banned the Instagram accounts of several Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Mawra Hocane and many others. A lot of their entertainment channels on YouTube and news pages on Instagram were also not visible to the Indian audience. However, now the ban on many of them has been lifted.

The Instagram accounts of many Pakistani actors that were previously blocked are now visible in India, and many of the entertainment channels have also been unblocked. Sanam Teri Kasam actress Mawra Hocane, Saba Qamar, Ahad Raza Mir, Dananeer Mobeen, Yumna Zaidi and Danish Taimoor’s accounts can be seen now, whereas Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Hania Aamir and many other accounts are still unavailable for the Indians. The accounts of these actors still show up as account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content. Moreover, Fawad Khan’s Bollywood comeback film Abir Gulaal with Vaani Kapoor has also been shelved.
So far, no official statement has been issued on the sudden lifting of the ban from these selective accounts.
What Led to The Ban?
A group of heavily armed terrorists opened fire on tourists on April 22 this year, in one of the deadliest terror attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region in recent times. Assailants descended from nearby hills and unleashed gunfire on unsuspecting civilians at one of Kashmir’s most visited tourist destinations. 26 people were killed, including two foreign nationals and two local residents. Following this attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, which was a coordinated precision strike operation by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7. It targeted terror camps in Pakistan. Following these incidents, several Pakistani artistes found their accounts blocked in India.
