Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR to promote War 2 separately. Here’s why
Actors Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR will not be seen promoting their upcoming film ‘War 2’ together. The actors, who would be seen ruthlessly fighting each other in the action thriller, would only reunite on the big screen. The decision was taken by the makers to build on the anticipation of seeing the two superstars reunite on-screen.
A senior trade source said in a statement, “Hrithik and Jr NTR will be promoting ‘War 2’ separately and all plans have been made, keeping in mind that they will never share the stage together, never be in any promotional video pre-release together and never seen with each other. Hrithik and Jr NTR coming together is a once in a lifetime cinematic moment in Indian cinema and there will be bloody carnage on the big screen.”
It is also said Yash Raj Films want the rivalry between the actors to be the highlight of the film. “It is clear that the audience should first experience this rivalry before they see the two promote with camaraderie. They want to deliver the best movie-watching experience to people by preserving the conflict, which is the unique selling point of the film,” the source stated.
Interestingly, even during the release of ‘War’, Hrithik and his co-star Tiger Shroff came face to face only during the success bash of the film.
The trade analyst delved into the different tactics used by the producers to promote its multiple spyverse and said, “They were the first to resort to a no-interview before release policy during promotions of spyverse films so that the actors don’t divulge details from the script during such interactions. In the first ‘War’, Hrithik and Tiger first came face to face with each other during the success bash of the film.”
“In ‘Pathaan’, they recorded capsules with actor Shah Rukh Khan to deploy on social media to reveal nuggets of ‘Pathaan’ and kept hyping the buzz on the film without SRK doing any events. ‘Pathaan’ went on to become an all-time blockbuster. For ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, the film’s campaign celebrated how the Tiger franchise set up the YRF Spy Universe and fellow agents came into the promotional campaign,” the source added.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 will hit the big screen on Independence Day weekend, i.e August 14, 2025 worldwide. The film also stars actor Kiara Advani in a pivotal role.
