Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor Immerse Nirmal Kapoor’s Ashes in Ganges
Actor Anil Kapoor’s mother Nirmal Kapoor passed away on May 2. Today, the actor, along with his brother, producer Boney Kapoor, immersed their late mother’s ashes in the Ganges. After that, the veteran actor took to social media to share photos from the puja ceremony and penned a heart touching note.
He shared how they immersed their father’s ashes in the Ganges almost a decade ago, and now, it gives them a sense of peace to know that their parents are finally together. Kapoor wrote, “Grief and Healing…Today we immersed Ma’s ashes in the Ganga”
He continued, “In the same place where we had laid Dad to rest nearly a decade ago…With the grief came a quiet sense of peace, Like Ma and Dad are finally back together With each other, home at last”

The pictures show the Kapoor brothers dressed in white as they performed puja for their late mother on the riverbank. Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor’s mother Nirmal Kapoor breathed her last on May 2 in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. She was the wife of late filmmaker Surinder Kapoor. Her last rites took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. Several members of the Kapoor family and their close friends arrived to pay their last respects to the mortal remains of Nirmal before her funeral. Sanjay Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Boney, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor, along with Shikhar Pahariya, gathered at the residence to offer prayers.
A number of close friends and members of the film fraternity were also spotted arriving to pay their respects. Among them were Rani Mukerji, Ananya Panday, Raveena Tandon with daughter Rasha Thadani, Suhana Khan, Javed Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, and Veer Pahariya. Just months earlier, the family had joyously celebrated Nirmal Kapoor’s 90th birthday.
The Kapoor brothers also met Swami Chidanand Saraswati at Rishikesh’s Parmarth Niketan Ashram to pray for the departed soul of their mother.
