Sunny Deol has confirmed that he has been cast as Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming adaptation of Ramayana. In a recent interview, the veteran star expressed his enthusiasm for portraying this iconic mythological character and talked about his collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor, who will be playing Lord Ram in the film.
On collaborating with Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny replied enthusiastically, “I think it’s going to be great because he’s such a fine actor. He always commits fully to any project he takes up.” With Ranbir and Sunny playing Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman respectively, it is understood that fans will be treated with a great camaraderie between the two actors who will be seen sharing screen space in the film.

Sunny also shared his feelings on taking up such a revered character as Lord Hanuman, admitting, “Nervousness and fear are always there, but that’s the beauty of it. Because then you have to dig deep and figure out how you’re going to live up to the role. You’re getting the opportunity to do something very special.”
Sunny was all praises for others in the ensemble cast as well, talking about the same, he said, “I think it’s going to be great and beautiful. As a matter of fact, after this, I’m going to go and watch a little bit of what they’ve done.”
He also praised the production team, under the leadership of producer Namit Malhotra, for their ambitious vision. He revealed, “They’re doing a great job. They want to bring out that supernatural quality, those visual effects, hopefully on par with what Hollywood delivers. Ramayana is a story that’s been told in every village and corner of India but bringing it to the big screen with such scale and dedication…I have faith that the film will do justice to the epic and satisfy audiences.”
The film is planned to be a two-part saga, with the release planned in 2026 and 2027.
