Box Office Report: Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par collects Rs. 11.7 crore on day 1
Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, hit the theatres on June 20 and got a warm reception from both critics and viewers. The film’s box office performance has been quite good so far as well as it minted Rs. 11.7 crore across all languages on its opening day.
With these numbers, Sitaare Zameen Par has made a strong start, surpassing the opening numbers of Taare Zameen Par which collected Rs. 2.62 crore back in 2007.

Rough data indicates that the Hindi version of the film brought in Rs. 11.50 crore, which was the main source of revenue. Additionally, Telugu and Tamil brought in 0.15 crore and 0.05 crore, respectively.
When Sitaare Zameen Par hit theatres, the box office performance of the multi-starrer movie Housefull 5, which was dominating the box office, saw a sharp decline. On Friday, Housefull 5 barely earned Rs. 1.85 crore owing to Sitaare Zameen Par’s release and the positive reviews it earned.
A spiritual successor to the 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par, Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by RS Prasanna and is a remake of the Spanish film Champions. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar are among the ten actors who make their film debuts and have received equal praise for their acting in the film. It is a remake of the Spanish film Champions.

Owing to the positive reviews the film is garnering, the weekend looks promising when it comes to box office numbers. An excerpt from the Filmfare review of the film says, “What truly elevates the film is its refusal to turn the neurodivergent characters into objects of pity or ridicule. The humour is situational, warm, and often deeply affecting, grounded in the absurdities of life rather than caricature. The laughs flow naturally, without ever compromising dignity. This balancing act is no small feat, and it’s a testament to the sensitivity of both Prasanna’s direction and Khan’s performance.”
