Kajol Asks Daughter Nysa Devgan To Shift Her Focus to The Positives

As she gears up for the release of her film Maa, Kajol spoke about the values she tries to instil in her 22-year-old daughter, Nysa Devgan. In a recent interview, Kajol opened up about helping Nysa navigate online trolling and deal with harsh social media criticism.

Nysa, a rising star kid, has been under constant media attention and has often seen herself at the receiving end of social media trolling. Kajol, who portrays a strong-willed mother in Maa, spoke openly about the challenges her daughter faces online.

When asked about guiding Nysa through online trolling and if she sees herself as an overprotective parent, Kajol responded with a smile, “I used to be an Eela,” referring to her role as a controlling mother in the 2018 film Helicopter Eela. “But not anymore. I am much calmer and cooler now. But yes, I am protective.”

When asked if online trolling ever gets under her skin, Kajol replied with a sharp sense of humour, “Well, I would say, don’t come in front of my car, otherwise I’ll drive over you.” She went on to explain her approach, adding, “I keep telling them, ‘It’s just 1 percent or 0.1 percent of people who talk like that. I don’t even know if they’re real, to be honest. You don’t know how much of it is genuine.”

Kajol’s guidance, like any parent’s, is rooted in simple yet meaningful wisdom. She shared, “You have to concentrate on the good. If you have a thousand comments, 999 of them will say ‘she’s amazing,’ ‘she’s beautiful.’ There is so much love and so many blessings they receive. Focus on that and don’t dwell too much on the rest. That’s all you can do.”

Kajol and Ajay Devgn are parents to two children, 22-year-old Nysa Devgan and 14-year-old Yug Devgan. While Nysa often finds herself in the spotlight, the couple has consistently stated in various interviews and public appearances that she currently has no intentions of entering the film industry.

Maa, featuring Kajol alongside Ronit Roy and Indraneil Sengupta, is set to release in theatres on June 27.
