Ed shared a BTS video capturing his journey across India, including stops in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai for the shoot. In the video, he also opened up about how his collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan came about, sharing all the details behind the surprise cameo.

Ed Sheeran said, “I don’t know if I need to give context on who Shah Rukh Khan is. I’d say he is probably like first or second famous person in the world. He invited me around his house to play paddle, and we played paddle for like 3 hours. Then he pitched me an idea and was like, ‘Do it whenever,’ and I was like, ‘To be honest I am here so like do you want to get dinner tomorrow?’ By the time I had gone there I was singing the whole tune in Hindi!”
In the BTS video, Ed Sheeran is seen recording Sapphire in a studio, singing in Hindi for the very first time. He shared that it was a completely new experience for him. Director Siddharth Anand, known for helming Pathaan, informed Ed that Shah Rukh Khan wanted to meet him and was waiting at his residence. Ed later visited Shah Rukh’s home along with his father and close friend Nic.

When Ed reached Shah Rukh Khan’s house, he asked if he could do a cameo in Sapphire, and SRK immediately agreed. After filming the scene, the two shared a warm, tight hug, marking a memorable end to their collaboration.
Sapphire also features Arijit Singh, who lent his voice for the Punjabi vocals. In the official music video, Ed and Arijit are seen enjoying a bike ride together, adding a fun and local touch to the visual.
