Exclusive: Huma Qureshi Did A Dance Number in Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik For Free
Rajkummar Rao turns into a violent gangster in his upcoming film Maalik. This is the first time the versatile actor will be playing such a character. After the teaser was released earlier this month, the buzz around the film grew louder. Actress Huma Qureshi has shot for an item number in the film, marking her second collaboration with Rao after Monica O My Darling. We are now getting to know that the actress did not charge a single penny for the song!
As per our trusted sources, Huma was quite excited to be a part of this and did not take any fee for her appearance. Our source said, “The item number Huma shot is truly one of the highlights of Maalik. The moment she heard the track, she was excited to be a part of it. The song is an upbeat, high-energy number that she connected with. Huma shot this song without charging a single penny, purely out of friendship with the producer Jay Shewakramani and Rajkummar Rao.”
She also shot for 16 long hours on the last day of the shoot. The source close to the developments added, “Her dedication is inspiring; she shot for around 16 hours on the last day of the schedule.”
Meanwhile, the teaser of Maalik shows Rajkummar Rao in a dark avatar. The film is set in Allahabad in the year 1988. The actor is seen performing action sequences in a raw avatar. In the video, Rajkummar’s character also says, “Maalik paida nahi hue to kya, ban to sakte hai (So what if I wasn’t born a Maalik, I can surely become one.)”
Apart from Maalik, Rajkummar was also seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf recently with Wamiqa Gabbi. Besides Maalik, the actor will also be seen in Toaster.
The movie is releasing on July 11, 2025.
